Looks Aren’t Everything, But They Help!
If you have a hot tub in the garden, you’ll want to keep it in top condition. It’s hard to get excited about a soothing spa session if your tub looks drab and dirty, so it’s worth taking a bit of time to keep it clean. This will help your tub look more welcoming, but it has a practical purpose, too – it’ll reduce the amount of dirt that ends up in your hot tub water, improving tub hygiene and performance.
All-Purpose Surface Cleaner
There are many different things you need to look out for when it comes to keeping your hot tub clean, so it makes sense to pick up an all-purpose cleaner that can deal with it all. We stock a few different hot tub surface cleaners that can effectively clean up almost any kind of hot tub surface. They’re really simple to use – just spray them on and wipe them up – so they’re good for domestic users and professionals alike.
Below, we’ll list a few common things to look out for when cleaning your hot tub. Luckily, if you’ve got some all-purpose surface cleaner, you’ll be well-prepared for all of it.
Water Marks
Water marks are a common problem faced by most hot tub owners. They occur when water splashes dry up on your hot tub, leaving behind a thin layer of minerals. They can appear on any hard surface, whether it’s plastic, metal, or wood, so most hot tubs will need water lines cleaning up every now and then.
Hot tub foam can cause quite severe water marks. If your water erupts in a foamy explosion, drop a couple of capfuls of anti-foam solution in to prevent this from happening. If any of the foam ends up clinging to the side of your tub (i.e. out of the water, where the anti-foam can’t dissolve it), clean it up with a cloth right away.
Dirt
As hot tubs tend to be outdoors, they’re naturally going to accumulate a lot of dirt – especially when they’re not in use. Even if you have a good cover on your hot tub, some dirt will still end up inside. You’ll need to clean this off regularly to avoid it building up to the point where it becomes a problem. You should also periodically clean the whole exterior of your tub to keep it in perfect condition.
Make-Up and Cosmetic Products
Cosmetics can be quite stubborn to clean off your hot tub. Dried-on make-up or fake tan can leave a stain on your hot tub that’s incredibly difficult to remove, so it’s important to clear them up as quickly as possible.
Algae and Mould
Hot tubs use a lot of warm water – although you probably knew that already! You might also know that warmth and moisture makes the perfect environment for mould and algae to grow, so you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled for them. Nothing puts a dampener on a spa session quite like finding green algae on your hot tub!
