Swimming Pool Care
Swimming pools have three main components that need cleaning - the water, the surface and the internal system and filter. Our swimming pool cleaning product range has everything that you'll need to keep all three clean and fresh so that your swimming pool can be enjoyed and maintained!
Swimming Pools
Swimming pools are great – they’re fun and provide a great way to exercise. However, they also need to be cleaned regularly to keep them hygienic, odour free and looking clean. It can be hard to understand what parts of the swimming pool need cleaning and how often they should be cleaned – especially if you’ve only just bought your swimming pool.
What Needs to be Cleaned?
Firstly, it’s important that you know what to clean to keep your swimming pool clean and fresh. Swimming pools range from basic to super-advanced but they all have three separate parts that need cleaning and maintaining. These include:
- The pool’s water
- The pool’s surface and walls
- The pool’s internal system and filter
All of these need to be cleaned and looked after so that your swimming pool can be enjoyed and kept clean and odour-free. Here’s how to clean all of these separately – so that you can enjoy your swimming pool whenever you want to use it.
Pool Water
Perhaps the most obvious tell-tale sign that your swimming pool needs a clean is your pool’s water. If your pool water hasn’t been removing dirt and grime, it’s likely to become dirty, smelly and discoloured. Here’s what you need to know to keep your water clean and fresh:
Chlorine Levels
One of the main ways in which you can prevent this from happening is maintaining the chlorine levels in your swimming pool’s water. Chlorine removes bacteria and germs, which when your swimming pool is being used a lot and by many different people, is really important.
Limescale
Pool water can also cause limescale, which not only looks unsightly but can cause wider problems for your swimming pool’s internal systems. Making sure that you prevent limescale from forming will help to keep your hot tub in great condition, as well as keeping the water crystal clear!
Algae
Algae is another common problem in swimming pools. Although algae spores are always present, if the chlorine or pH levels of the pool aren’t right, that’s when algae begin to thrive and can cause your pool to look murky and extremely unpleasant. Our Algae removal products are super easy to use and can transform your hot tub in seconds – perfect for swimming pools where algae is a reoccurring problem as they can also help to prevent algae from reappearing!
pH Levels
Your pool water should always be between 7.4 and 7.6. This way, your water isn’t too acidic or too alkaline (both of which can cause problems for your pool water and the internal system). It’s important that you do regular pH level tests to make sure that your water is at the perfect pH level. This will make your swimming experience much more enjoyable, as well as helping to maintain an efficiently working swimming pool!
The Swimming Pool’s Surface and Walls
Through regular use, your hot tub surface and walls can start to look grubby and dirty – especially after you’ve emptied the water. By wiping down and removing any dirt and grime that’s attached to the swimming pool’s surface and walls, you can be sure that your swimming pool is as clean as it possibly can be! It’s also important to wipe down any algae or limescale residue as even after you’ve removed them, they can leave stains and marks on the surface and the walls.
Filter and Internal Systems
Without your filter system, your swimming pool will soon become dirty and a very unpleasant place to be. Your swimming pool’s filter removes dirt and grime – keeping it free from bacteria, grime and nasty odours. To keep it working as efficiently as possible, the filter needs to be cleaned and have any build-up attached to it removed. If you can remove your swimming pool’s filter, then our filter cleaners are super easy to use and will keep the filter and therefore your swimming pool, clean and clear and working perfectly!
